Statement on the State of the Union Address

Jan 29, 2008 — (Jeffersonville, IN) – Congressional Candidate Mike Sodrel released the following statement in response to the President's State of the Union Address:

"While I don't agree with everything the President laid out last night, there is much to be encouraged about.

"I stand behind the President in his call for permanent tax relief. This is crucial for the long-term health of our economy.

"While there is much left to accomplish in Iraq, the signs are promising as violence has decreased dramatically over the last year. I am encouraged that the President is determined to finish the job and continue to provide our troops with the necessary resources.

"The President re-affirmed his commitment to protect human life by calling for ethical stem cell research. I strongly encourage Congress to continue funding research that does not destroy human life.
